10.5 hours later, we conquered the beast! Our boys had a blast until we got to the tree line, and then the real ‘fun' started. There was some difficulty breathing (partially due to elevation, but also because there was fire smoke in the air). We took an O2 canister which really helped.

All-in-all, it was a great hike that our boys will never forget. They can now say “we climbed that!” when we crest the hill on I-17 into Verde Valley.
