Our initial plan was to start at around 6:00am but we overslept and woke up around 8:00am. We had to make a stop at the store to get a few snacks and from there we got to the trailhead around 9:30am. I was surprised at how many people were going up and down on this trail. We let a lot of people pass us because we really wanted to take our time. Going through the woods was the easy part, once you get to the last mile and a half it got really rocky and there were a few spots where I had to use my whole body to push up. The worse thing about the last part were the false peaks. You go up thinking you're almost there, and once you're at the top there's another summit. I read about the false summits I just didn't try to think to much of it, but it really does mess with your head when you're up there. My two friends and I were about 30-40 feet apart from each other at one point but we all stopped to regroup for the last half mile. It wasn't too windy up there, I'd say around 10-15 mph and it was somewhere between 40-50 degrees once we reached the summit. We were probably one of the last groups to make it. It felt so good just being able to stand up there and look at everything as far as the eyes can see. I was proud we all made it up there together, its definitely something I won't forget. We started heading back down around 4:20pm and the last 3 miles were bit of a challenge since the sun had gone down. We had to use our phone flashlights to see, it was pretty dark in the woods. A few people joined us because they got lost on the way down. We got to the car a little before 8:00pm.
