I met up with my group at 6am in the Chantry Flats Parking lot and we set out on the trail. We passed some llamas on our way up to the trailhead and ofcourse cracked a few jokes. The trail was beautiful with the spring bloom just starting. The weather was perfect. We sauntered along joyfully. Once we got up towards the summit I was a little disheartened to see so much burn on the mountain but it was kind of eerie to see all the blackened trees through the morning mist. Then once we summited there was a huge parking lot with an observatory. Lots of people were just sitting up there picnicking too. It was a little windy at the top and we were tired so we all laid out on the black top to warm up and rest. We met some guys that had summited it a few minutes behind us. They were friendly and we all cheered each other on. All in all it was a fun and rewarding experience.
