I wanted to get another long hike in this week before I head to the Sierras next weekend. With the heat I hoped for an early start on this one. As often happens I didn’t get started until 7:30 a good hour and a half later than I planned. The hike was uneventful with no one else on the trail all day. It has been a couple years since I did this one so I had forgotten how rough that last 1/4 mile scramble up to the peak is. On my way down the heat really sucked out the energy which made the trip an hour longer. Glad I took 4 liters of water with me as I went through all of it. Afterwards I stopped on the candy store which I thought was closed. Turns out it has new owners. I tried a sandwich for lunch which wasn’t bad. Nice to know it’s still open as it makes a great stop after that hike.
