We set to Summit Mount Diablo, a group of 14 people, and welcomed by heavy rain, mud and fog !! Ranger warned us to avoid the left side of the trail from our map, and it maybe impacted by on-going rains. Immediately I had a vision of my Last years trip to “Mt Diablo”, hence I used the phrase “Jinx’ed” as felt like the peak has been like this for me in past.
We started at 8:30 am after paying fees, a group picture and taking to Ranger. First Mile was slow, as we get used to mud, and flowing water however we got used to it eventually in a mile or two. There was a patch with a incline climb which was extremely muddy and we decided to avoid that while coming back, and it was such a great decision.
we reached top of Summit of Mt Diablo around 12:30 pm, and mud / rain slowed us down thou. Last 2-3 mile were pretty much mud free and trail was in good condition to pace up. While coming back, we were welcomed by Sunshine, fog cleared to give us great views of area’s around Mt Diablo.
Apart from initial hurdles with Rain & Mud, overall a great hike to enjoy with the group.
