Mt Baldy June 1 – this is my second year hiking Baldy and took the same route. Up Baldy Bowl to Ski Hut and down Devils Backbone. Minimal snow at the summit, I had taken micro spikes but did not use. Plenty of water for filtering at Ski Hut. As a sea level resident, altitude is always a factor but manageable courtesy of hydration, electrolytes and an Advil 800 before I start. We stayed in Crestline over the weekend so I arrived at trailhead from our AirBnb around 515am and started at 530am, decent parking at that time. Roughly 4 hours to summit then descended backbone which still got my vertigo a bit but seemed wider than last year’s trail through the sketchiest sections. My wife and best friends took the ski lift up and met me at the Top of the Notch for lunch; I had my own personal cheering squad rooting me on when arriving at the notch. I took the fire road down which is under an hour and ended with a total of roughly 7.5 hours hiking time. Weather was near perfect with NO WIND at the top!
