It was a steamy day on San Gorgonio as the damp trails from overnight rains heated up as the sun came through.
In my opinion this is one of the prettiest trails in So Cal so enjoyed every minute of it even though it is a physical challenge to be sure!
We did an overnight backpacking on this trail several weeks ago and then decided to try it all in one push since we’re training for Whitney.
The rain storms this week did wash a lot of debris from the hills onto the trail making it more of an obstacle course than usual with lots of loose rocks.
Stream at High Creek Camp is running strong to filter.
We checked the weather reports regularly throughout the week, the morning of, and had a friend text us on my Garmin during the first part of the day to make sure we knew our safe window to summit as there was a chance of rain and VERY slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Â We made sure to summit and be down under the tree line before that time, but others were still heading up. We passed along the weather forecast.
We felt very proud to have completed it and still in awe of how beautiful this mountain is.
