While I intended to do the peaks in order, a major wrong-turn in the Collegiate Wilderness thwarted my ascent of Birthday Peak. Not wanting to wait to drive all the way out to Buena Vista again, I decided to take on Mt Sherman. With this, I bagged my first 14'er and my first summit completed alone.
Climbing above 13k feet has proven to be difficult for me, as I have a knack for being hit with altitude sickness. It took about 3 hours to summit, and another 1.5 to get back down. The weather was perfect with few clouds, however the trail can be difficult to navigate without trekking poles (a lot of loose rocks!)
