It was a very long drive up and into the Mt Diablo State Park. Parked up high since all trails a pretty much hard here. Started out from the Juniper Overlook parking lot. It was supposed to be a hot day and with all the smoke around the state, we didn't want a long hike. The trail was all uphill and there was a lot of loose small rocks. Made it to the top in about 90 minutes at a moderate pace. Went to the top of the visitor center/light tower. Spent some time taking pix but the smoke was so bad that we couldn't see very far. Usually, you can see SF and other distant sights. Came back down and went inside where the very top part of the Peak (exposed rock) is coming through the floor and took some pix standing on it. Went into the visitor center and then gift shop. I skipped the gift shop since I didn't have a mask. Headed back down the trail back to our vehicles. Dan had to get going to pick up his kids. I think we timed it just right for him to be in time.
