This is my new favorite hike in SD county. Beautiful, quiet, lots of trees, and views that go on forever! I somehow took a wrong turn despite it being very clearly marked and maintained – there was literally only one fork in the entire trail and I somehow still took the wrong one, classic. So I hiked 12.6 miles on a trail that was supposed to be less than 10. But the side trail was actually very beautiful, so I have zero regrets.
The ladder and rope up to the very top of the peak was sketchy, but people were patient and helpful and my sticky La Sportiva trail runners made sure I survived. I could've stayed there all day. Perfect views of so many other mountains, including San Jacinto where I had a couple of friends hiking that day.
