Saw these footprints in the second snowdrift from the parking lot. As a comparison, my hiking buddy Ann put her hand next to it. With all the fires in the area, a lot of wildlife got pushed out of their territory.
As for the hike, it was a beautiful day. Mountain weather forcasts had the temps in the 40's. But it felt much warmer than that. Trail was in great condition. Patches of snow at the beginning of the hike before the first saddle. But just on the trail edges, didn't need to cross any of it. There was snow on the trail before the big intersection before the climb. Nothing too major to cross, didn't need special equipment. No snow in the big decent to the top, and just a little bit of snow at the peak. This will all probably change with this weeks rains.
