This was our 5th peak and boy did Mike 4 kick my butt! I had never heard of Mt Sizer before but now I will never forget it! First few miles is downhill and then when you get to mile 4 it’s the opposite. My hiking buddy had read that the number of minutes to hike this part should equal your age. Well , she beat her age by 10 mins and I felt lucky that I beat it by 1 minute 😍. Then the summit is a mile further but it is very anti-climactic. There are really beautiful views on this hike and it makes me grateful to live in the Bay!! As we made our way back, we came across snakes, tarantulas, and a wild boar and her babies!! What we didn’t realize that in the last 3-4mikes-ish, there is more uphill! Nothing like mile 4, but we weren’t expecting any more uphill. All in all, it was a great, challenging hike! Happy to check this one off my list!!

  1. Hello, it looks like we both hike this peak the same day (9/30). I honestly don’t know how long it took me to hike the steep “short cut” but it sure took me longer than an hour as I took several breaks before making it to the bench, where I took a 30 minutes break. It took me almost 8 and a half hours to complete the loop under the fog, some rain, and some wind. My last peak will be Mount Rose

  2. Wish we had seen you on the hike! We did not see another person until we got back to the parking lot at the end. A great accomplishment on this one !
    Happy hiking!
