This was our final hike of the challenge, though I foresee many more mountains in our future. What a amazing hike! The day started cool, low 60's with the threat of rain turning to thunderstorms. We began our walk around 7:30 AM. The first few miles of the trail were relatively flat and beautiful, paralleling the Amonoossac River on occasion. The rain held off, and temps stayed lower, as we made our way to the top. The higher we got, the thicker the fog became, which created a mystical and at times eerie, feel. We never saw the top, and were startled by a research building when it emerged out of nowhere through the mist. Conditions at the summit were cold, windy, busy (there was a bike race on the Auto Road), and awesome all around. As we started our decent the sun poked out and we caught a glimpse of the peak and the surrounding views. Worth the wait for sure! We made it down by 4:30 PM. Great hike to end our challenge!
