Another great day on the trail today. I teamed up with my friends Dale Hill and Amy Huang as we attempted El Cajon Mountain. An 11.25 mile hike with nearly 4,000 feet in elevation gain. Although, Amy and I opted to take a side trip to Summit El Capitan before heading up the final push to El Cajon Mountain, making our journey 12.4 miles.

It was a challenging day mostly due to the heat. It was easily in the mid to upper 70's when we began our around 0600. And it was 97 degrees once we made it back to our vehicles.

There were not a lot of hikers on the trail today. Although, I was surprised to a few hikers making their way up the mountain as we were descending. Temps were already in the 90's at that point. Not smart to head up in that heat in my opinion.

Today was Dale's 6th peak of the for the San Diego Six Pack of Peaks Challenge. It was Amy's first ascent of El Cajon and El Capitan, and my second time this year.

Just another great day on the trail!
