Great day for a hike. Cool and cloudy all morning for the ascent. Unfortunately that made for poor photos on top. A bunch of tarantula hawks at lower elevation. I did see a horned lizard at the top and a red diamond rattlesnake coming back down. This is billed as the toughest hike in SD county, I'm not sure about that, but it is very difficult. A lot of steep inclines. I brought 3L of water and drank it all with about 3 miles to get back to the car. So glad they put water on the trail. I can see why people have to get rescued and even die out there if inexperienced/unprepared.
