I woke up with a good amount of sleep ready to conquer my second peak of the SoCal Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. This was my second time summiting Cucamonga Peak via Icehouse Canyon so I knew what to expect. Parking was a challenge (we had to add 0.3 miles to the hike) and there were quite a bit of hikers on the trail. At times it was too much but I tried to make the most of it and enjoy my time out in the wilderness. We saw a Steller’s jay and some chipmunks. The bugs weren’t too bad and there was some patches of snow off trail. The best part was the waterfalls and flowing river which I definitely didn’t get to see last time. Overall, an excellent hike despite the crowds.
