Couldn't ask for a better day to hike San Jacinto. The tram was closed, and so very few people on the mountain. Weather was gorgeous and sunny, with just enough breeze to keep the temps right. Came down from the summit taking the Wellman trail to Strawberry Junction and that was painful. About a full mile or more had fully overgrown sections of thorn brush that tore up my bare legs. No amount of creative use of poles or pack could keep my shins and calves from getting shredded. This side of the mountain seems to get much less travel. But the views are spectacular. Even ran into a family of deer near the end that we watched meander through the forest.

Nice pictures! Sounds like a great day (except for the shredded calves).
