We got to Lost Dutchman State Park early. The trail starts easy through the campground and after, it starts to climb up. There are no switchbacks so that means it is a straight up rock climb. Please know that this will be a long climb and it will take you the same amount of time to climb up and down. Note that the day use parking area for Siphon Draw is 8 pm so start early! The climb was grueling and note you stay to the left most of the hike. So, when you get to the top, you need to climb up a 10 ft wall, which wouldn’t be hard, if you didn’t climb for hours. We got a lot of advice from everyone about going up the wall: go left, go right. We decided to go to the left and got up the wall. Quick pictures and we are climbing back down trying to beat the light. We found a couple from Georgia, with no headlamp, and we worked together to help them get down safely. We all got down and safe back to our cars, but it was after 8 pm. Unfortunately, the gate was closed and we had to get an Uber back to our hotel. There’s a $5 overnight fee, which you need to pay because they have your car information. We returned next morning to pick up my friend’s car.
