First time doing this popular trail. Started around 6:45am. Finished by 2pm. But we spent about an hour at the top looking for the Mt. Wilson sign… which we finally found on the other side of the observatory. Had to ask someone who worked there for help.
Great hike overall! I liked how the terrain didn’t have ankle spraining conditions. Much easier on the ankles than other hikes. We thought this one was the easiest so we saved it for last. It was a good incline the whole way though, not much flat. Wouldn’t necessarily call it easy haha. We encountered some construction on the service road .5 miles from the top…. But we just stayed on the trail off to the side and we’re able to avoid them. Observatory stuff at the top was cool. No wild animal sightings. Shaded for a good part of the hike but definitely hot in the sun.
What a way to end the year!
