The only way to escape the heatwave is to start really early and go up high. So at the crack of dawn I made my way up to the ski hut. Some overcast helped a lot to keep the worst of the sun at bay. Though I slowed down considerably above 9000 ft, things went so well I decided to have lunch half a mile over on Baldy West. After which I mingled a bit on Baldy for pix, and stopped at Harwood as well, making this a triple peak hike. Temps at the top were lovely (high 60s) and the worst suffering was at the end of the loop, from the Notch to the parking lot. Met some wonderful people and it was a lovely day off the grid.
PS: if anyone lost a two-way radio, I found it and left it at the ranger station in Baldy Village.
