First things first, you need a reservation for the Red Canyon scenic bypass if you want to access this trailhead (unless you arrive between 6-8 a.m.) it’s not hard to get a reservation necessarily, but there is limited cell service at the entrance so recommend doing in advance. The trail is well marked throughout with both trail markers and white dots. The first mile is easy, the remainder of the hike is moderate. There was a lot of high winds and loose gravel to contend with, definitely recommend wind breaker and proper footwear. The summit view is rewarding. We didn’t spend much time there b/c we were running out of daylight quickly and were concerned with navigating the trail in the dark, luckily we made it back to the wide, groomed section before needing our headlamps.
