The Rose peak was chosen for the final peak of our hike as a Grand Finale!!! The 6 peaks have not just meant adventure and hiking but also building our endurance and exploring and Rose peak definitely put us to test.
It’s a unique hike with golden hills and grazing cows, occasional opening give wonderful views of the bay and the other peaks keeping it interesting. But to be honest, after about 8 miles in it’s the same cute rolling hills make you feel all ur muscles and we are mentally tired of finding the peak due to no proper markers just hoping we were going in the right direction 🫣 Our hike ended up being longer due to a couple detours due to fire restoration.
The park gates opened at 7am with free parking. Some trails are narrow with loose rocks and oaks acorns making it slippery. So on way back from the ‘W’ tree chose to go down the service road leading to little Yosemite which probably added a mile extra but was safer as it was getting dark. It was just the 3 of us the entire hike. Thankfully we had the paper map included with the permit that guided us navigate the detours. There are no other mile markers and the number marker distance varies making it hard to estimate how much further before you summit.
I know it got to us, at 12 we hadn’t summited and didn’t know how much further  and started worrying about getting lost in darkness on way back.
There is constant elevation gain and descend throughout so be prepared to climb atleast 3-4 steep climbs on way back.

Rose peak is sighted after number 29, so don’t give up, even if the distance between 22/24/26/28 feels long and inconsistent keep going, once on top of the peak there is nothing (no view or seat or sign) just a few rocks to sit on. But you will definitely feel the accomplishment.

We took our lunch break there and then just focused on returning back while we still had some light. Like so said for safety last 2.5 mi we used the service road and made back in 9.5 hr.Hope all the extra information helps future hikers.
This is definitely a great hike, felt like we earned each of our 6 peaks.
