Its fantastic access to this hike / area is now open to the public. The tail could not have been in better condition – hard pack, smooth and clearly defined. This was a fun hike – and beautiful late afternoon – but BY FAR the easiest of the 6 pack. The monolith at the top is a trip – a spooky relic of the Cold War. It stands in stark contrast to the spiritual nature of the summit and surrounding area. Really cool how this was such an important spot for Native American rituals and celebration…just was not that long ago. The views of both Diablo and Tam also very cool…with the sprawl of San Jose in between:). Looking west, amazing sunset and great to see the might Pacific.
This was a really fun and quick hike – took me 1:05 up and 1:03 down – 2h 8m total. Was glad to have an easy one before I did Sizer the next day – thats a solid workout!
Weather and conditions perfect.
