I entered through the South gate and parked at Curry point. The drive to the trailhead was a bit intimidating. Narrow, winding road that needs to be shared with bikers. I noticed that the drive to the trails in Bay area is similar except Mission Peak, the first one i completed. I’ve been driving in SoCal’s winding roads and much higher elevations to the national forests but they have railings most of the time that somehow provides me with confidence to drive. This place, winding, more narrow, no railings almost all the time (or none at all). I exercise much precaution to this unfamiliar place, that adds to the adventure😊
The hike itself was not difficult and not busy probably because there are a few trailheads to access. It was unusual to me as the trail crossed the road a few times and didn’t feel like I was in the wilderness at all. I also discovered that most people just drive all the way up😁 to enjoy the view. Parking was packed that time. Felt like I was one of the odd ones with my hiking gear and sweaty🤪 when I reached the viewpoint.
I love that they have a very huge marker, can’t miss it. After enjoying the view with the breezy atmosphere, got myself an ice cream bar and headed back down.
