This is definitely a challenging hike. You are gaining and losing elevation all throughout the hike. The terrain is steep and slippery in sections, so we really had to focus, particularly on the way down. The trail is exposed for most of the hike…not much shade on this one. Although we went in late March, it was fairly warm for most of our hike. We passed an old car on our way up. There is a fun bit of rocky scrambling as you near the peak. We decided not to take a detour and check out the El Capitan peak on this day, but I will do so next time.
