This hike was my 1st peak challenge hike! This hike was tough I think primarily because of the rough night sleep the night before. We had camped out the night before to be able to start out early the day of the hike and it was COOOOLD. We didn't have the right sleeping bags or pads so I was cold all night – lol.

The next day we headed out! The morning was chilly but soon after we started moving we got warm. Our start out was different because we took a few steps and then went down the mountainside instead of our usual up. Then up and down and up and down the trail we went. Lots of ups and down the woodsie trail. A good trail. It was marked but at times not as defined as others – thankful for Alltrails.com. Lots of big trees. Lots of shade along the way which was appreciated too! Good hiking weather overall! We crossed paths with two groups of Boy Scouts who were moving thru the trail the opposite way.

Getting to the geological marker was a great feeling of course. Lots of interesting information about the area and Native American people who lived in the area many years ago. Very cool cliff view! Proud of myself  for completing this my first CA Peak.
