Second hike this week as part of the SoCal Six Pack of Peaks and after doing High Point on Wednesday this hike was a nice change. A beautiful day, with temps starting in the low 40s and getting up to the mid 50s by the end of the hike. There were a few small patches of snow and ice but not much, although as the day warmed up the trail became muddier.
We followed the advice of others and stayed on the Volcan Mountain trail to the top and came down the 5 Oaks loop trail. Both trails offer great views with lots of scenery. When you get to the top make sure to take the time to take the small side trail to the south, find the giant wooden bench, and take in the breath-taking view. You will not be disappointed.
This was an easy hike, at 5.2 miles, although at the beginning there is a couple of steep hills.
