Volcan Mountain was my first hike back after having long COVID a little over a month prior. My heart and lungs were working serious overtime trekking the steady incline, but I managed with the patience and support from my friends, and my trusty poles.
The weather was cool and crisp throughout, with tolerable sun beaming down for the descend. There was a few stretches of snow and slush leading up to the summit; no micro spikes required, just good shoes and balance.
We took the Fort Oaks trail up then the Volcan trail down. There were a few bees on the Volcan descend, nothing serious enough to turn around.
Overall, this was a great kickstart to reawakening my strength and building endurance for future mountains to come.
