My friend and I had took a day trip to San Diego to hike two different SoCal 6-Pack peaks (originally Volcan Mountain and Cuyamaca Peak). We arrived at the Volcan Mountain Trailhead by 8:30am and promptly geared up. This trail winds along a wilderness preserve, which allows for a very different (and surprisingly easy) sort of hike. Not only that, but the landscape was unlike anything we had experienced before. We reached the peak without exerting too much effort, took in the views (on both sides) and then began the trek back down to the trailhead. Arriving back to the car at 11:15, we quickly headed out for our second hike of the day.
