This trail may look like an easy hike, but the elevation gain going up is no joke – but easily manageable. It is a steady incline all the way up with a few parts that are more flat to allow you to recover and some parts of the trail have a slope to them from the erosion. When we went on January 16, 2022 the weather was absolutely beautiful and clear. It had rained the day before but the trail wasn't muddy. Near the top there is an old homestead, several lookout points, and many areas to sit and take a break. If you want to be able to see locations further on the horizon such as Catalina Island I would recommend bringing binoculars. There is an installed viewfinder at one point but it is not very good.
