The morning was a bit cool and misty. A few mins. Into the hike we were warm enough to shed our extra layers. This is the first peak I have ever completed, as my usual hikes have very little incline, let alone serious incline and a glorious peak. So this was a challenging and very “let me see what you got inside you” hike.
There were a few sections that scared me going up (I have a deep fear of heights) but with the help of the girls… I was able to overcome the fear and press on. The weather was good. Not too hot. A bit cold in the shade at times. The view on the way up and down is spectacular in many areas. At the peak we stopped for about 30 mins (that's all we could handle) of the bone chilling wind. It was fast and whipping all around. A few quick pics. A hearty lunch and we were descending.
As my first peak, I was exhausted and my feet were killing me. No blisters, thankfully… But I learned the importance of short toe nails.
The trail took us novices 10.5 hrs total… And it was a glorious, painful, exhilarating, accomplishing hike.
I fell in love through the pain and have done several since and cannot wait to complete the next one… Maybe Colorado!!
