Nice cool morning to make my way up to Cucamonga Peak! I started out around 6:30 a.m. and the temp was around 64 degrees, which was a nice relief from the humid coastal communities. Once I stepped off I enjoyed the peaceful babble of the creek as I started my trek up the trail. I kept looking at my GPS to see how far along I was compared to how long it was taking me and it appeared I was making great time. The thought of maybe bagging two or three peaks in one day came across my mind. I clearly was mistaken as the switch backs sprang up out of now where and I started feeling my legs turn to jello as I slowed down drastically! I eventually made my way to the peak where there were three other people hanging out and talking. I ate a snack, soaked in the sun, took the obligatory Cucamonga pic and made my way back to Ice House Trail Head. The trek down the mountain seemed to take longer than the trek up. All in all I enjoyed Cucamonga Peak and I look forward to bagging my next peak ASAP!!
