Today I finished my Sic Pack New England Challenge! There were other hikes I really wanted to do, and in my mind I was going to get to all 11 mountains for New wheEngland. But, thanks to life it was not meant to be.
Welch-Dickey was the closest of what was left to do in a day. So up crazy early this morning to New Hampshire and at the trailhead by 8 am. I had read some reports of the leaves being slippery. I didn't notice that until my descent. I loved this hike. It was short, but packed a punch. Straight up and straight down! on the way up I started thinking that it is a good thing I'm not afraid of heights, as this is not a hike for someone who has a fear of heights or falling. There were a few spots where I felt that one wrong step and I would have gone sliding all the way down the mountain!
I went up Dickey and came down Welch and I think that's the better direction, at least it was for me.
Thank you Social Hiker for extending the challenge!
