Since we were in the Sedona area we decided to knock off both of these trails and thanks to road closures on 89 we did them back to back. Got to the trailhead early(6am)before the closure. After seeing the sign telling me we were in bear country caused me to be a little leery and as we proceeded down the tree covered trail it was not hard to expect a bear to jump out at any moment! It was very overgrown and web-y. The bugs weren’t too bad yet as they worsened the farther up we went. There were some beautiful views of the red rock walls as you climbed a few long switchbacks and then some tight and steeper ones brought you out to the “bench” where the North Wilson trail/Wilson mountain trail met up to go up to the top. Then more climbing up to the top, where there’s another sign pointing you to either the Sedona overlook to the left and then the North Canyon overlook to the right. It was quite beautiful looking down over Sedona and seeing Midgely Bridge but I have to say, the views from Bear Mtn were much more spectacular! Still a great Red Rock visit! Oh and there were no bear sitings!
