We started the hike a little after 6am. The upper lot was almost full. Trail conditions were perfect, not too buggy, and not too hot at the start. We took our time climbing up to save our energy and also to slowly acclimate to the altitude. The last 2 miles to the summit were the hardest part of the hike – exposed with a steep incline. It was one foot in front of the other until we reached the top. When you stop to take a breath or a sip of water don't forget to turn around and catch the views. They are remarkable.
