After a rest day yesterday, we were back at it for Mt. LeConte. There were a variety of interesting places along the way, such as arch rock and alum cave, and much of the trail was still shaded. This tree cover included the summit, where you are greeted by a rock pile I can only assume is covering the old bench mark, and no view of the surrounding area. Luckily, Cliff Top is only a short detour away and has amazing views. Just make sure not to monopolize the best photo spots at the end of the rock as a couple folks did – tried not to make it obvious that they were in the way, but eventually they left and everyone else up got their fun photos.
As usual, the hike down was fine. Saw lots of people minimally prepared, but hopefully only hiking to Alum Cave…
