Limited parking at this trailhead, and I almost had to park at nearby Foothill College. Fortunately people run this trail early and they finished as we were starting, so we found a spot. There are a few ways to get to the top of Black Mountain, as I discovered in trying to choose which way to go up. We ended up taking the “Upper High Meadow, Chamise Trail, and Black Mountain Loop” listed in AllTrails, but we had to add the extra side trek to the peak since that loop didn't include the peak of Black Mountain. That side trek added 1 mile out and back to our total. Weather wasn't bad since we've had many dry days and the rain hadn't come yet. There were a few people on the trail along the way. Great 360-degree view at the top, nice fall foliage, and ripe Toyon berries present all along the trail made this hike more appealing than expected. The holly berries definitely gave me the holiday vibe.
