After finishing Bear Mountain the group I was with decided to go on ahead with hiking up Wilson Mountain. By this time it was really hot, somewhere in the upper 90s. We started going up the North Wilson Mountain trail around 1pm and it was a bit of a struggle for us. I had never done two peaks in a day, let alone two peaks that were over 2000 ft in elevation gain. The trail started through the woods, and once we were about a mile and a half up we were in the sun. At that point one one person in the group was ahead us, I was with my friend most of the time. I split up from her and was approaching the last mile up to the Sedona Overlook. I had to check on my friend to see if she was okay so I had to back track a mile back to meet up with her. By that time it was about 4pm and it looked like a storm was coming through. I decided to keep going while my friend had to turn back because she felt she wouldn't make it in time before sundown. Once we split I ran as much as I could and by the time I got to the last mile I was exhausted and gassed out. The other person in the group was able to call me by phone and told me he was already at the top, I was maybe about 20 minutes behind him. That motivated me to keep going and I made it to the overlook at around 5 or so. We took a few pics and ran back down as fast as we could and made it back down in about an hour and a half. I was depleted by the time we got down to the car but the whole experience was worth it!
