We started around 10 am after driving up to Sedona from Phoenix. I was surprised when we got to the trailhead that it was just off of 89A (which I have driven a hundred times) and somehow I've never noticed this trailhead before. The trail has many shaded areas and we had a nice breeze for the majority of the hike as well. Its not too steep (much less steep than Bear Mountain), but there were a few areas with some loose rocks that we had to be careful on on the way down. The views from the Sedona Overlook were absolutely insane. You can look down at the red rocks, Midgley bridge, and the airport. We sat on a rock and enjoyed the views before heading back down. Overall it took us 3 hours to complete this trail, and we only saw 5 other people the entire hike (we did hike on a Monday), which is so crazy because I am used to doing the more heavily trafficked trails in Sedona. It was really nice to have the trail almost to ourselves and really enjoy nature!

Hoping to do Wilson soon! I think it took us 5 hours to hike it 2 summers ago. Was it too warm? Buggy?
It definitely wasn’t too hot. Lots of shade along the way! But it was a cooler day (i think the high was mid to high 80s) we saw some bees and hornets but that’s all for bugs and only in one spot along the trail.
