My group started our first hike of 2019 at Baldybowl trailhead up to the skihut. It was a bit chilly with the winds, but we didn't know it would be evene worse at the summit. There was a lot of snow after the skihut, so we used microspikes. The trail was hard to see with the snow, so every sign post we passed was such a relief. When I finally reached the peak it was so difficult to stand there, the winds were very strong and it was freezing. The views were amazing and the sky was clear, we could see the ocean and Catalina Island. I wanted to do the loop through Devil's backbone, but the weather conditions seemed too dangerous for that.
