This was a solitary venture up an windswept land. The trail was entirely above the tree line, and the glacier-carved cirque that forms the namesake feature of the mountain was pocked with the remains of old mining operations.
There are many “trails” that wind up towards the peak. I found chose the routes that looked like the most direct option to to reach the saddle north of the peak.
From the saddle, there is a clear social trail that winds gently up the final slope to the summit, where there is a small rock cairn. I didn't find a summit register, but the views were pretty spectacular.
Windy as heck. Hung out and enjoyed the views, then headed back down. Didn't see anyone else on the summit, but did see a pair of other hikers as I was making my way back down.
There were patches of snow, and I ended up traversing a couple of them although they could've been easily avoided or walked around. Nothing to stop you from reaching the top.
