Great hike. First bit of snow about 0.5 miles up, put the microspikes on around 0.8 miles. First 3 miles are relatively easy as the switchbacks aren’t too steep. Last mile was challenging given the amount of snow, at least a couple of feet. Trekking poles here were very helpful. Can’t see the trail so either follow the footsteps that go straight up or make your own through feet of snow. Snow gaiters would have been helpful as there’s no way to keep dry otherwise there’s just too much snow. We were the only ones at the top, views spectacular all the way past downtown LA. What a blast. Oh and the hike is probably closer to 9 than as listed. We hit 7.6 but also skipped quite a few switchbacks on the way up and down which would have added mileage.
