The hike today was chilly so I put on another layer before setting out. The trailhead parking lot had plenty of parking available and there were several hikers out today although the trail was not crowded. There are lots of snow patches both along the trail and further uphill on the trail closer to the summit. The trail is not whited out yet and I did not need to use spikes or other traction devices but going forward until the end of this years Summer Challenge, I would recommend that the appropriate gear such as traction devices be brought just in case. The snow patches increased as I got closer to the summit and at some points the trail was covered with snow although it is still visible. The summit had a layer of snow when I arrived although I did not need to use spikes.  Took pictures and then headed back down. Closer to the trailhead there was a light precipitation of both rain and snow. Although the sky was clear when I was heading up and it was clear at the summit, it was cloudy as I got closer to the trailhead. It was still daylight when I reached my vehicle.
