It had rained the day before, and when we got to the mountain we discovered that that meant snow at altitude. A little at the trailhead, a few inches sticking to the ground higher up.
Hike was a lot of fun. Mile-long trail to start, ending with a gully scramble. Fire road beyond that. The winter wonderland around us contrasted with the emerald green of the countryside around the mountain. Met a lot of friendly folk.
If you stay in Calistoga before or after this hike, I highly recommend the Inn on Pine.
