We were struck by the beautiful view just walking through the gate to the trail. The beautiful red rocks in with the forest green trees and brush was breath taking. As we ascended the views became even more spectacular as we looked down into Sedona. The incline was a lot of hard work. There were several false plateaus that brought some temporary relief from the climb, but that more importantly brought unique and different views than the last. The vegetation is beautiful with several types of wild flowers, cactus, desert, and forest plants. Keep an eye out for a beautiful fluorescent green, yellow, brown lizard. It was the most beautiful animal we have ever seen on a hike.
This is definitely a difficult hike, but as far as the colors, fauna, the wildlife and the views it is the most enjoyable hike my husband and I have ever taken.
