We've been waiting what seems like forever in 2019 for the snow to melt enough to safely bag some six pack peaks. With all the recent pictures on social media, early June looked like we finally got some thawing. We started at Vincent Gap at 6am and the lower switchbacks were nice and dry. At around mile 3 is when the patches of snow started to really come into play which hid parts of the trail. We put on our microspikes to be safe as we started to scramble up to the saddle. Once on the ridge the trail becomes well defined until a little past the Wally Waldron tree where you are scrambling up around/through the snow patches again. Luckily it's a super short ascent to the summit. On the descent, we kept the microspikes on for the added traction since we usually power down as fast as possible. With warmer temperatures, the snow patches should not be an issue in the near future.
