I'm originally from a small town in Northern California. I climbed my first substantial mountain peak many years ago – Mount Shasta @ 14,162 Ft. I love being outdoors and all facets of outdoor recreation. In fact, that was my major at University – Recreation Administration.

I moved to New England about 8 years ago. Many people have asked me, why would I leave such a beautiful place? My hometown borders the Pacific Ocean and is surrounded by massive redwoods trees and rivers that I spent long days kayaking and rafting on. Within a half hour, I could hike, mtn bike, kayak, raft, and ski. State and National Parks and recreation opportunities were in my backyard. I moved to New England for a job opportunity. I had some reservations about moving east – worried I wouldn't have the same access to the recreation activities I enjoyed back home.

A few years under my belt in the New England area, I am happy to say I have found my way, explored several of the New England states, and I'm finding new favorite places to hike, bike, paddle board, and enjoy other recreation activities.

I found the New England Six Peaks challenge by accident. I am embarking on another challenge this summer – The National 3 Peaks Challenge – in the UK, and I was looking for opportunities to train for the UK challenge when I happened upon the Social Hiker website. I saw this challenge and saw the nonprofit organizations that are supported by this organization – and I was hooked.

So, I'm in! I'm looking forward to completing this challenge, and exploring new areas – and new peaks – on the east coast. Hike on!
