No need to wait for your welcome packet — you can get started on the challenge today. Here are a few ways:
- Personalize your profile. Update your avatar and profile cover image to share your favorite hiking destinations. You can also share your social media links like Instagram and Facebook. And learn to navigate the Social Hiker website.
- Introduce yourself in the forums. Let us know what makes you tick. What is your “WHY?” Join us around the campfire!
Start planning your hikes
We have detailed trail guides to all the peaks in the challenge, but remember, these are just suggested routes. You can hike from any trailhead you prefer to make it challenging for you. You can hike them in the suggested order, or in any order you prefer.
Start putting dates on the calendar and planning those hikes.

San Diego Peak 1 High Point
Started at 7:30am. Parked next to the building just before the fire station. Adventure Pass required. Bathrooms are located in the campground across the street.

It was cold and windy up on Palomar today, with views down low but higher up the clouds took over. On the way down I


Highest peak in SD
Beautiful hike, even though it was pretty foggy. We didn't get great views from the top, but you gotta love hiking through those big pine


High Point Half Marathon
This was an amazing hike. I only wish I had arrived earlier so I didn't have to rush up and down to beat the sunset.


Overnight on Corte Madera

Hit peak 3 with Potato Chip. The day prior I bagged Corte Madera. Why? Because those 2 trails are my favorite I couldn’t resist.
Challengers create a Hike Log to track their progress through the challenge. Hike Logs are a great way to meet your fellow challengers, and provide a great source of valuable trail information.
