Trail conditions today were about as perfect as you could ask for 59 degrees and slightly overcast. We got to the trailhead at Mission Peak Preserve at about 6:00am and the lot was full so we opted to park on the nearby street. This trail was CROWDED to say the least. Aside from the crowds there were wild turkeys everywhere and quite a few cows roaming aimlessly. We quickly made our way up to the peak and as we approached we found ourselves in the cloud cover and the wind picked up enough to make time on the peak short enough to snap a shot or two and keep moving. Descending from the peak we continued the Mission Peak loop following the Horse Heaven trail and apparently the crowds opted to return the way they climbed because there was nobody on that trail. All in all Mission Peak was fun and I can’t believe how close it is to the hustle and bustle of the bay. This days not over yet though as we boogied down the mountain and headed for Mt. Umunhum.
