I'm convinced this will be the most beautiful of the Nor Cal 6-Pack of Peaks–lush green mosses, redwood trees, waterfalls–even a ladder to climb. We started on the infamous Dipsea Trail, cut up to Steep Ravine along the creek–we followed the recomended trails on SocialHiker, but if I had it to do again I would not go on the Old Stage Coach Road from Pantoll Campground–it's paved much of the way, in the open and not much to see. There are more beautiful trails that will take you just a little longer but are much more enjoyable, like Easy Grade Trail to the Mountain Theater then Rock Spring Trail to West Point Inn–a must see and fabulous place to sit down to eat your lunch or snack. We went on these two trails on the way back down. We dropped a 2nd car at Pantoll Campground parking lot early in the morning then drove back down the hill to park where Panoramic Highway meets Hwy 1. Our hike was still 11.3 miles and we were on the hill for 5 hours with only 3 stops–lunch and 2 brief snack breaks. Hiking uphill for 8 miles takes longer than the 4-6 mile loops I'm used to hiking.
